Falling lots and the view

On a lake lot the pool wants to sit where you can see the water from it. That is almost always on the fall, not on the flat. A dug pool there means cutting into the slope and holding the cut with a wall, and the wall costs more than the pool.

A precast shell is structural on its own. We can set it part-buried into the slope with the deck built out to the downhill side, so the water sits level and the view stays open, without a retaining structure behind it doing the work.

Sumner County ground near the lake sheds a lot of water, and the yards that fall toward the water carry it across the exact terrace where you want the pool. Setting the shell about two feet above the surrounding grade keeps the rim above what moves across the yard in a hard rain, and lets us grade and pave around it so the water goes past the pool instead of into it.

Can you put a pool on a lot that falls toward the lake?

Yes. That is one of the situations precast handles better than a dug pool, because the shell is structural and does not need a retaining wall behind it the way an excavation does.

Do I need a retaining wall?

Usually not. A dug pool on a slope needs something holding the cut. A precast shell set part-buried or above grade generally does not.

What about drainage on a lake lot?

We set the rim above the grade the water crosses and pave around it so runoff goes past the pool. On a falling lake lot that is the detail that matters most.

The street is narrow and there are power lines. Is that a stop?

Not by itself. It changes the machine and sometimes the shell. We check reach and clearance before you commit to a model.
